HBW Report: Florida Swimming Pool Construction – March 2023

An overview of permit data for new swimming pool construction in Florida during the month of March

Last month there were approximately 1,300 new swimming pool permits with a total construction value of nearly $96M added to the HBW database for Florida.  Out of the five major regions reviewed (Southwest, Southeast, Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville), Southwest Florida held the highest concentration of new pool construction (403 permits), while Jacksonville held the highest average value of new construction (average value: $102,380).

Here is a closer look at new swimming pool construction stats by area for the month of March 2023:

Southwest Florida

Last month, there were more than 400 new swimming pool permits with a total value of approximately $27.5M in the southwestern region of Florida.  The average value of new construction was lowest in the area (average value: $68,111) in comparison to other regions reviewed, and more than half of all new permits originated from the counties of Charlotte (102 permits) and Lee (124 permits).

Out of 110+ active pool builders in the area last month, the following ranked as the top three for total new permits:

Tampa

In Tampa, there were 285 new swimming pool construction permits with a total value of nearly $21M on record with HBW last month.  The counties with the highest levels of new construction activity were Hillsborough (84 permits) and Pinellas (63 permits), and the average value of construction was $73,439.

Out of nearly 115 pool builders with new construction activity on record last month, the following ranked as the top three for total new permits:

Southeast Florida

The southeastern region of Florida ranked #3 for new swimming pool construction, having just over 265 new permits with a total value in excess of $19M on record last month.  The average value of new construction $71,592, and the county with the highest concentration of new permits was Palm Beach (87 permits).

Orlando

In Orlando, there were more than 220 new swimming pool permits with a total construction value of nearly $16M last month.  The average value of new construction was $71,271, and more than half of all construction took place in the two counties of Orange (65 permits) and Brevard (55 permits).

Out of 85 active pool builders with new construction on file for the month, the following ranked as the top three for total new permits:

Jacksonville

Last month, there were nearly 125 new swimming pool construction permits with a total value of $12.6M on record for the Jacksonville area.  The average value of new construction was highest in Jacksonville (average value: $102,380) in comparison to other areas reviewed, and more than half of all new permits originated from the counties of St. Johns (48 permits) and Duval (37 permits).

Out of 55 contractors with new permits on record for the one-month period, the following ranked as the top three for total new permits:
