A summary of permit data for new swimming pool construction in Texas during the month of October
Based on HBW’s latest construction data reports, there were more than 1,165 new swimming pool construction permits with a total value of nearly $64 million in the Lone Star State last month; this reflects approximately a 48 percent month-over-month increase in new swimming pool construction permits. Out of the four metro areas reviewed (Dallas, Houston, Austin, San Antonio), Dallas (557 permits) carried the greatest volume of swimming pool starts, while the highest average value of new pool construction took place in Houston (average value: $69,873).
Here is a closer look at new swimming pool construction activity across Texas and by region for the month of October 2022:
Dallas
As noted above, Dallas carried the greatest amount of new pool construction on record last month, having 557 permits with a total construction value in excess of $28 million. The average value of new pool construction was $50,326, and well more than half of all new permits originated from the two counties of Collin (202 permits) and Denton (114 permits).
Out of approximately 215 contractors with new swimming pool construction activity on record in the area last month, the following ranked as the top three for total new permits:

Houston
In Houston, there were 330 new swimming pool construction permits with a total value in excess of $23 million on record last month. As previously noted, the average value of new construction was highest in the Houston area (average value: $69,873), and the bulk of all construction activity took place in Harris County where there were 229 new permits recorded for the one-month period.
Out of more than 150 pool builders with new construction activity in the area last month, the following ranked as the top three for total new permits:

Austin
Last month, there were approximately 185 new swimming pool construction permits with a total value of nearly $8.7 million in the Austin area. The average value of construction landed on the lower end of the spectrum (average value: $47,212), and the majority of all new permits originated from Travis County (128 permits).
Out of approximately 90 pool contractors with new permits added to the HBW database in the Austin area last month, the following ranked as the top three for total permits:

In San Antonio, there were nearly 100 new swimming pool construction permits with a total value in excess of $3.9 million added to the HBW database last month. The average value of new construction was lowest in the San Antonio area (average value: $40,839) in comparison to other Texas regions reviewed, and the bulk of all new construction activity took place in Bexar County (78 permits).
