HBW Report: Texas Swimming Pool Construction – June 2020

A review of construction permits data on record with HBW for new swimming pool construction in Texas during the month of June 2020

Last month, there were approximately 1,020 new swimming pool construction permits with a total construction value in excess of $52 million added to the HBW database for Texas.  Out of the four major metropolitan areas reviewed, Dallas (478 permits) carried the highest volume of pool starts for the one-month period, while the Austin area carried the highest average value of new pool construction (average value: $71,636).

Here is a closer look at the total permits, construction values, leading counties and top contractors on record with HBW for new pool construction in the Lone Star State during the month of June 2020:

Dallas

As previously mentioned, nearly half of all new pool construction recorded for Texas last month took place in the Dallas area; during the month of June, there were 478 pool starts with a total construction value of nearly $20 million.  The average value of new pool construction was lowest in Dallas (average value: $41,404) in comparison to other Texas areas reviewed, and just about half of all new construction took place in the counties of Tarrant (116 permits) and Collin (121 permits).

Out of the nearly 170 contractors in the Dallas area with pool starts on record with HBW last month, the following ranked as the top three for total new permits:

Houston

Houston ranked #2 for new pool construction last month, having more than 350 new permits with a total construction value of approximately $20.8 million on record with HBW.  The average value of new pool construction in Houston landed mid-range (average value: $58,993) in comparison to other Texas metro areas reviewed, and the bulk of all new permits originated from Harris County (235 permits).

Out of the 155 contractors with new swimming pool construction activity on record in the Houston area last month, the following ranked as the top three for total new permits:

Austin

In Austin, there were nearly 115 pool starts with a total construction value in excess of $8 million on record last month.  As previously stated, the average value of construction was highest in Austin (average value: $71,636) in comparison to other Texas areas reviewed, and more than half of all new swimming pool construction took place in Travis County (67 permits).

Out of the more than 50 contractors with new pool construction activity on record last month, the following ranked as the top three for total new permits:

San Antonio

Last month, there were nearly 80 new swimming pool construction permits with a total value of approximately $3.6 million added to the HBW database for the San Antonio area.  The average value of new pool construction in San Antonio (average value: $46,568) landed on the lower end of the spectrum in comparison to other areas reviewed, and the majority of all new permits originated from Bexar County (69 permits).

Out of the approximately 30 active pool contractors with new construction activity on record in the San Antonio area last month, the following ranked as the top three for total new permits:
