Florida Swimming Pool Construction Review – September 2022

An overview of permit data for new swimming pool construction in Florida during the month of September

During the month of September, there were approximately 3,250 new swimming pool permits with a total construction value of nearly $225 million added to the HBW database for the Sunshine State.  HBW’s monthly construction data reports for Florida included the five major regions of the state (Southwest, Tampa, Orlando, Southeast, Jacksonville) and covered permit data such as total permits, average value of construction, and leading counties and contractors.

Here is a closer look at permit data for new swimming pool construction in each Florida region during the month of September 2022:

Southwest

The highest concentration of new swimming pool construction could be found in the southwestern region of Florida, where there were approximately 1,125 new permits with a total construction value of nearly $75.2 million.  The average value of new pool construction was $66,897, and more than half of all new permits originated from the counties of Lee (430 permits) and Manatee (248 permits).

Out of nearly 210 pool contractors with new construction activity in the area last month, the following ranked as the top three for total new permits:

Southeast

In the southeastern region of Florida, there were 718 new swimming pool construction permits with a total value of approximately $47 million last month.  The average value of new swimming pool construction landed on the lower end of the spectrum in the southeast (average value: $65,368) in comparison to other Florida regions reviewed, and the majority of all new permits originated from the counties of Palm Beach (245 permits) and Miami-Dade (167 permits).

Out of nearly 250 contractors with new construction activity on record for the one-month period, the following ranked as the top three for total new permits:

Tampa

Last month, there were 660 new swimming pool construction permits with a total value of $50 million in the Tampa area.  The average value of new swimming pool construction landed on the higher end of the spectrum (average value: $75,696) in comparison to other Florida regions reviewed, and just over half of all new construction activity took place in the counties of Hillsborough (191 permits) and Polk (146 permits).

Out of nearly 170 contractors with new swimming pool construction activity on record in Tampa last month, the following ranked as the top three for total new permits:

Orlando

In the Orlando area, there were more than 475 new swimming pool permits with a total construction value of nearly $30.2 million last month.  The average value of new swimming pool construction was lowest in Orlando (average value: $63,403) in comparison to other Florida areas reviewed, and the highest concentration of new construction took place in in the three counties of Orange (194 permits), Brevard (75 permits), and Volusia (74 permits).

Out of more than 110 contractors with new construction activity on record in the Orlando area last month, the following ranked as the top three for total new permits:

Jacksonville

Last month, there were approximately 270 new swimming pool construction permits with a total value of $22.3 million in the Jacksonville area.  The average value of new swimming pool construction was highest in Jacksonville (average value: $82,907) in comparison to other Florida regions reviewed, and the majority of all new permits originated from the counties of St. Johns (108 permits) and Duval (71 permits).
