According to the latest HBW construction data reports, there were 2,810 new swimming pool construction permits with a total construction value of nearly $214 million in the Sunshine State last month. Out of the five regions reviewed (Southwest, Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, Southeast), the Southwest (943 permits) carried the greatest volume of new swimming pool construction activity, while the highest average value of new pool construction could be found in the Tampa area (average value: $91,359).
Here is a closer look at new swimming pool construction activity across the state of Florida and by region for the month of October 2023:
Southwest
As previously noted, the southwestern region of Florida carried the highest concentration of new swimming pool construction activity last month, having 943 new permits with a total construction value of nearly $69 million. The average value of new pool construction was $72,772, and more than half of all new permits originated from the two counties of Collier (354 permits) and Lee (258 permits).
Southeast
Last month, there were approximately 615 new swimming pool construction permits with a total value in excess of $42.4 million in the southeastern region of Florida. The average value of new swimming pool construction in the southeast landed on the lower end of the spectrum (average value: $69,317) in comparison to other Florida regions reviewed, and nearly half of all new construction activity took place in Palm Beach (284 permits).
Orlando
Last month, there were approximately 480 new swimming pool construction permits with a total value of nearly $33 million added to the HBW database for the Orlando area. The average value of new swimming pool construction was lowest in Orlando (average value: $68,895) in comparison to other regions reviewed, and more than half of all new pool construction activity took place in the two counties of Orange (163 permits) and Lake (103 permits).
Tampa
In the Tampa area, there were nearly 445 new swimming pool construction permits with a total value of approximately $40.5 million last month. The average value of new pool construction was highest in Tampa (average value: $91,359) in comparison to other Florida regions reviewed, and well more than half of all new permits originated from the counties of Hillsborough (177 permits) and Pasco (86 permits).
Jacksonville
Last month, the Jacksonville area carried the least amount of new swimming pool construction activity in comparison to other Florida regions reviewed, having 335 new permits with a total construction value of $29.5 million. The average value of new pool construction in Jacksonville landed on the higher end of the spectrum (average value: $88,082) in relation to other areas reviewed, and the bulk of new permits originated from the two counties of St. Johns (139 permits) and Duval (80 permits).
