Florida Swimming Pool Construction Quarterly Report: Q3-2022

A review of permit data for new swimming pool construction in Florida from January through September

Since 2011, new swimming pool construction has been steadily climbing in the Sunshine State, but so far this year, the market has appeared to have slowed. From January through September of this year, there has been a 6 percent decrease in new pool construction across Florida, resulting in nearly 30,500 new permits on record with HBW.

In the latest Swimming Pool Construction Activity Trend Report, all six Florida regions reviewed (Southwest, Southeast, Northwest, Northeast, Central, West) exhibited year-over-year declines in new pool construction ranging from a low of <1 percent (West) to a high of 12 percent (Southwest).

Southwest

Total Permits: 9,501

Southeast

Total Permits: 5,933

Percent (%) Change YTD: -5 percent

West

Total Permits: 5,296

Percent (%) Decrease YTD: <1 percent

Leading Counties for New Pool Construction (based on total permits): Hillsborough County (1,647 permits); Polk County (1,010 permits)

Central

Total Permits: 4,193

Percent (%) Change YTD: -7 percent

Leading Counties for New Pool Construction (based on total permits): Orange County (1,444 permits); Brevard County (844 permits)

Northeast

Total Permits: 3,027

Percent (%) Change YTD: -1 percent

Leading Counties for New Pool Construction (based on total permits): St. Johns County (1,154 permits); Duval County (593 permits)

Total Permits: 2,541

Percent (%) Change YTD: -1 percent
