A review of construction activity and leading builders on record with HBW for new swimming pool construction in Florida during the month of December 2019

In Florida, there were 1,630 swimming pool starts with a total construction value in excess of $74 million last month.  Out of the five major regions reviewed (Tampa, Southwest, Southeast, Orlando, Jacksonville), Southwest Florida held the highest concentration of new construction activity (total permits: 522), while Tampa held the greatest average value of construction (average value: $52,554).

When reviewing the leading contractors behind the figures, we found that most were regionally focused, with several builders taking the lead for total pool starts in each area during the one-month period.

Here is a closer look at new swimming pool construction by region and based on the total number of permits on record with HBW, along with the top five leading contractors in each area:

Southwest

The Southwest region of Florida carried approximately 32 percent of all new swimming pool construction in the Sunshine State last month, having 522 pool starts with a total construction value of nearly $24 million last month.  The average value of construction landed mid-range (average value: $45,689) in comparison to other regions reviewed, and out of the more than 130 active pool builders with permits on record last month, the following ranked as the top five for total new permits:

Tampa

In Tampa, there were more than 335 swimming pool starts with a total construction value in excess of $17.5 million last month.  The average value of construction was highest in Tampa (average value: $52,554) in comparison to other regions reviewed, and out of the approximately 105 active pool builders in the area last month, the following ranked as the top five for total new permits:

Southeast

Last month, there were nearly 330 swimming pool starts with a total construction value of approximately $12.8 million in the southeastern region of Florida.  The average value of new pool construction was lowest in the Southeast (average value: $38,968) in comparison to other regions reviewed, and out of the 120 active pool builders on record last month, the following ranked as the top five for total new permits:

Orlando

In Orlando, there were approximately 265 swimming pool starts with a total construction value of nearly $11 million last month.  The average value of new pool construction in the area landed on the lower end of the spectrum (average value: $41,083) in comparison to other regions reviewed, and out of the nearly 65 contractors with new construction activity on record for the month, the following ranked as the top five for total new permits:

Jacksonville

Last month, there were just over 180 swimming pool starts with a total construction value in excess of $9 million in the Jacksonville area.  The average value of construction landed on the higher end of the spectrum (average value: $50,231) in comparison to other Florida regions reviewed, and out of the approximately 65 active contractors in the area last month, the following ranked as the top five for total new swimming pool construction permits:
